Creation Nation Parade - by the Barat Foundation - Newark, NJ - 2011
The Creation Nation Art and Peace Parade is an annual parade in Newark, NJ, marching for art, peace, and unity. It is organized by The Barat Youth Initiative, who do incredible work in the city of Newark.  In addition to the annual parade, The Barat Foundation facilitates murals, educational hybrid models focusing on creativity, public art by the public, and lots more.  Their work centers around the motto, 'peace through artistic collaboration',. The 2011 parade took place October 23, closing out a huge Open Doors weekend in Newark.  It was the biggest parade yet, and the first that I had the opportunity to be a part of.  I painted a few small signs and one large sign.  It was an honor to be part of such an incredible display of life and creativity and peace.  Many thanks and much respect to The Barat Foundation and everyone who brought their creativity to the Creation Nation.
